Cyber-security in networked and distributed model predictive control

Distributed model predictive control (DMPC) schemes have become a popular choice for networked problems. Under this approach, local controllers use to predict its subsystem behavior during certain horizon so as find the sequence of inputs that optimizes evolution according given criterion. Some convenient features method are explicit handling constraints and exchange information between coordinate their actuation minimize undesired mutual interactions. However, we been developed naively, presenting flaws vulnerabilities malicious entities can exploit gain leverage in cyber-attacks. The goal work is raise awareness about issue by reviewing DMPC methods surveying defense mechanisms. Finally, several examples indicate how these mechanisms be implemented controllers.
